We Will Overcome

Deadly and malignant the bush fire may be

Burning, wrecking and smashing through life 

Reducing the once good moments of elation

To sad ashes that invoke sad streams of tears

Flattening the hopes that were once promising

To a barren wilderness of eternal desolation

Replacing the most wonderful experiences

With nothing but the maimed and burnt stumps

Freedom is locked up, isolated, under siege

Surrounded by the snarling smoldering fires

Jumping high into the air
Filled by the Kellogg fire
Aiming higher than mediocrity
Determined to defy gravity
The drive in their veins irresistible
The energy in their blood incredible
They are as unstoppable as a bullet
Their zeal is like unquenchable thirst
The Kellogg spirit flows in their veins
Filling every corner of their brains
Victory is ever their companion
Africa's future they will champion

A Positive Perspective

It came in my darkened mind
Like a bright dawn in the morn 
That brings the first ray of the day
Promising a day so bright in sight
Clearing away the hapless darkness
It was a voice in the head that said:
In fact, all is well as far as I can tell
The mind just needed a light in the night

The Double-Faced Journey

This one life meets a stone in his travels
And sees the dreaded stumbling block
That dashes his hopes and halts the journey
Another life comes across the same stone
And smiles, seeing a blessed stepping stone
That will give him a footing on the murky trail
And he thanks fortune for the valuable provision

The Double Edged Future

The optimist stretches his eyes and sees the invisible future
And says, "It is bright, promising and so beautiful a future!"
His heart is eagerly looking forward to its approach
That it may speedily reach the present moment and find him
The future, in its treasure box, holds delicious opportunities
