The Idea: Then and Now

A while ago the idea was young, fresh and beloved
Confidence of the heart was all over it
It radiated power and commanded hope
It attracted admiration and glorious awe
That was the case only a short while ago
When the sun was rising over the horizon
It was dawn and the day was young with a bang
It is now dusk and the day is tired and retired
The idea is suddenly ages old, weak and meaningless
Doubts of the heart now surround that idea
Questioning its feasibility and profitability
What was full of possibilities is now impossible
The admiration that it had lately commanded
Has been usurped by utter disdain and scorn
With the setting of the sun is the idea going
Never to become the big deal that it promised to be

Generous Summer

The sun comes out grinning widely
This is the time of the year when the
Sun is as generous as the right hand
It is a time when the sun is out, giving
The best of his shining all day long
Making a show of his magnanimity
Till the land is parched and cracked
From being pampered relentlessly
And till the trees and the grass
Are baked and scorched thoroughly
Till everybody is sweating and panting
Under the glare of the shiny sun
Till the awestruck world is left marveling
For the summer knows no bounds
