Anger is a Burden

Filled with vengeance, you hate someone
Seething with anger you are thrusting the sword
Steaming with malice you want to hurt the other
But this angry sword is double edged
As you stab the other person, the other end
Is piercing deeper and deeper into your own heart

The Ladder

Now and then you wrangle and squabble with failure
Engaging each other into a fierce brawl
You are so bitter with failure as you struggle
You are trying hard to reach the very top
You are aiming to be where gold and honor abound
Where your most desired dreams lie waiting
Until when with much effort you reach the top
And with much relief you look down, victorious

Uncovering The Solution

Finding the real solution to a nagging problem
Is like looking for a switch inside a dark room
That has an electric bulb hanging from the roof
Your heart knows there is a switch in the room
But your eyes see not the switch the first time
The eyes need to keep looking over and over again
Knowing the switch is in the room all the same
Changing their area of focus now and then
Sometimes looking up the walls or across the roof
Sometimes looking near the corners or near the frame
Until the switch is found and the light is shone
