You Have a Win in Every Day

That moment when the heart jumps
Full of joy and pride, needs not wait
Till that day when you shall finally
Open the doors to your grand palace

That moment that shall come at long last
When you shall punch the air
Triumphantly crossing the finish line
After a marathon of many years

That big win, that big break-through
That is many years away
Why wait year upon year when it could
Be shortened to day upon day?

Every day does have that little win
That ignored small accomplishment
That deserves cheers and cherishing
A victory that will count on the big day

Every day is that short break
In a long marathon to the prize
To refuel, replenish and refresh
Such a precious window of fresh air

That daily triumph is a fortress
Against the menacing armies of stress
The assailants that mock your falls
Silence them with that daily medal
