A Time for a Blessed Kiss

It is time for a blessed kiss
To seal the matrimonial vows
And the congregation is blushing
With the anticipation of the kiss
For there is something about a kiss
As clear as water as complex as rocket science

It is time for a holy kiss
To cut the ribbon to the matrimonial halls
And the congregation is smiling
As they openly witness the kiss
For it's in the open, unlike a snake's hiss
Like a summit of heads of state in an alliance

It is time for the couple to kiss
To finalize the matrimonial vows
And the congregation is laughing and laughing
Feigning wonderment at the kiss
As though it's Earth and Venus doing this
In the planetary realms in a loud silence

It was time for the groom and bride to kiss
To conclude the matrimonial vows
And the congregation is talking
Bemused having witnessed the kiss
And putting on a show of pretentious bliss
For the kiss brew their nerves out of balance
