Here is a Riddle

Here is a riddle that will make your mind twiddle
There is a battle that you and you are waging inside you
Between you and you there is a heated conflict going
And it's wreaking havoc and creating a big confusion
So potent that it's shattering all the peace inside you
Like a mighty wind it rages, unstoppable and inevitable
It's an unruly conflict between you and you inside you
One you longs, for that which the other you loathes
One you says, "Oh yes!", the other you says, "Oh no!"
Neither obeys the rules, each one advances his agenda
And that makes your wits frantic, angry at the void
In you, there is more than one you, and that is the riddle

Here is a riddle that will make your mind twiddle
Inside you there is a commotion involving you and you
Conscience is mightily punching a stubborn instinct
Peer pressure is ever wrangling with concrete reason
Dubious myths are plainly wrestling with crystal facts
Restraint is furiously quenching fierce flames of anger
Boiling ambition is openly harassing a meek modesty
Kindness is uncharacteristically murdering immortal grudges
Resolute vengeance is ruthlessly strangling undying love
Religion, science and traditions are all in a huge brawl
The gone past is busily tugging the future backwards
In you, there is more than one you, and that is the riddle

Here is a riddle that will make your mind twiddle
One you is quarreling with the other you over everything
Whatever you want you must boldly debate it
And with firepower get it across the barriers in you
You want the light and must war with darkness
You want knowledge and must demolish ignorance
You want love and must destroy elements of hate
You want harmony and must banish elements of division
You want prosperity and must fight hopelessness
You want a happy life and must eliminate negativity
You want progress and must push back the haunting past
In you, there is more than one you, and that is the riddle
